Millions of people across the country have had their housing impacted during COVID - an issue that could have been greatly alleviated had there been a basic income in place. Organizers in several cities created highly impactful Eviction Notice Art Installations, to get community members to think about new ways our economy could work to support our most vulnerable.
With COVID in place, city organizers got creative. From art installations, to bike and car parades, to street corner protests, we built the tools to make it easy for organizers to plan amazing, highly successful events while allowing for safe social distancing for community members. There was even a Digital March via the WATT app, where more than 7 million steps were taken for basic income.
2020 saw a huge growth in support for basic income. It was important to provide different ways for the community to celebrate. From a film screening, to panel discussions, to a Year of Basic Income Livestream event featuring commentary from Andrew Yang, Andy Stern, over 10 Mayors from Mayors for a Guaranteed Income and more, we came together to mark the important progress of 2020.
